You may have noticed that Crafty Mart is growing by leaps and bounds. One of the growth opportunities we're most excited about is extending our efforts to help nurture and develop our local maker community. That's what the MAKER SESSIONS are all about. With the assistance of the Burton D. Morgan Foundation, we have put together a series of five classes designed specifically for artists and makers to address some of your business needs. Want to know how to better turn your efforts into a sustainable income? This is for you.
The second Maker Session is Wednesday, June 22nd, 6-9pm at The Akron Art Museum (1 S. High Street, Akron OH 44308). This second session is about bookkeeping, budgeting, and pricing your products. Our guest speakers will be Maria Roth, Colton Kawiecki & Matthew Wilhelm of the international accounting firm PwC.
Maria Roth & Colton Kawiecki are both Experienced Associates in the Assurance Practice with PwC and Matthew Wilhelm is a Client Relationship Executive with PwC. Maria and Matthew are both University of Akron graduates and Colton is a Miami University alum. Before joining the PwC Team, Matthew worked for the U.S. Department of Labor as a Self Employment Training Demonstration Program Leader and co-founded a consulting business in the Cleveland/Akron Area. Colton and Maria are both CPAs who started with PwC after graduation and serve clients in the Cleveland/Akron area.
Are you good with keeping track of the numbers and figures for your business? Would like to get better? Although our guest speakers Roth, Kawiecki & Wilhelm are used to working with bigger clients, they are excited to share their insights with us on the importance of smart business operations. Bookkeeping, budgeting, and pricing your goods all require you to know what the numbers mean for your business sustainability. They'll be introducing a how-to-guide for bookkeeping, discussing profit/loss statements, and formats to forecast your business' future. There will also be practical advice for covering your expenses and ensuring a profit in terms of pricing your products for the market. Does this sound intimidating?
