The upcoming 4th of July weekend is a wonderful time to relax and enjoy the good times we've arranged for you and your family. If you're entertaining guests from out of town, why not take them to the Artwalk--and the Crafty Mart Pop-Up Market--to show off downtown Akron. Our monthly pop-up market will be Saturday, July 2nd from 5pm-10pm on the third floor of Summit Artspace (140 E. Market St. Akron OH 44308). Here's what's going on:
We have a free Make & Take craft for the kids. Our Director of Education Marissa McClellan will be making play doh using simple household ingredients. Bring your kids and let them get creative.
We also have a fun workshop for teens and adults with local artist Kathryn Shinko. Using hand embroidery, learn how you can turn old vinyl record sleeves into your own work of art with a few basic stitches, some simple, but oh-so-cool designs, and plenty of colorful threads! All supplies are provided, including a smorgasbord of old record covers (but feel free to bring your own if you'd like). Explore how hand stitching with color, shape, and line can enhance a visual composition. Best of all, you get a work of art to take home with you by the time the class is done! Sign-ups and payment is required.
Reserve your spot HERE.
What else is going on? Well, we'll also have henna artist Nirali Shah with us demonstrating her work. There's so much to experience at the July Pop-Up Market.
In addition to an all-new collection of artisans and makers, we'll also have music, beer and food on hand. Check out our list of local handmade crafters:

If you have a chance, we'd love to see you on Friday, July 1st from 4-8pm at the Canton Museum of Art. Here's more about that event.
Happy Independence Day!! We'll see you soon.
