We're getting prepared for the upcoming Mom & Pop Shoppe--Crafty Mart's large, annual Spring Show. We're eager to bring you a series of profiles to introduce you to a few of our makers coming to the Mom & Pop Shoppe on Saturday, April 2nd, 2016.  This is just one in a series of Vendor Spotlights where we let those who will be sharing their wares shine a light on what it is they do.  The following profile is Samantha from Snow. and her response to a mini-questionnaire.

1). What's your name and what is it that you make?

My name is Samantha Hudson and I create amigurumi- a Japanese style of crochet, meaning 'knitted/crocheted stuffed doll'.

2). How did you acquire the unique skill set to do what it is you do?

In college, I had a roommate who was a metals major and she showed me how to crochet with metal wire. We eventually moved onto yarn and I began making scarves. Just about 6 years ago, my best friend announced she was pregnant with her first child, and I became interested in amigurumi. At her baby shower, my first amigurumi was an instant hit, and I was immediately asked where I was selling them. At that point I wasn't- and so, along with my first niece, snow. was born.

3).  What is your best seller?

Cactus have taken over as the best seller. I started making them as an experiment and people really took to them. Who doesn't love a plant you can't kill?

4).  How long have you been vending? Have you done a Crafty Mart show before?

I've been vending shows around Ohio for the past 4 years, and have proudly been a part of Crafty Mart since 2012.

5).  Chocolate or peanut butter?

Chocolate, please!

Thank you for answering our questions Samantha. And, thanks for coming to the Mom & Pop Shoppe. We'll see everyone on Sat. April 2nd from 10am-4pm at the Akron Art Museum, Summit Artspace, and Akron Main Library.  You'll be able to find Snow. at the Akron Art Museum.
