To help you get to know the workshop instructors a little better, we've asked them to respond to FIVE QUESTIONS.
Jennifer from smARTStudio is teaching a workshop Wonderful Weavings, 11am-12pm at the Akron Art Museum.
1) Please describe how you see your place in Northeast Ohio's creative community.
My name is Jennifer Davis and I am the owner/Visual Arts Educator at smARTStudio. The studio's mission is to provide enriching and creative art experiences to artists of all ages in our community.
2) How did you acquire the skill(s) you're passing on in the workshop?
I have a BA in Visual Arts Education from the University of Akron, certified to teach Prek-12 (Ohio Educators License Visual Arts.) I taught Visual Arts Education in a public school district 2008-2013. (And I currently teach at my studio, smARTStudio.)
3) What do you hope people will get out of your workshop experience?
I hope that participants will enjoy the creative process, be inspired by the tools/materials, and make personal connections in their art making experience.
4) What motivates you to be creative?
Being creative is a grounding and therapeutic process for me, I enjoy exploring new tools and materials in art making. Also, the smell of new crayons.
