We're excited to bring you another in a series of profiles to introduce you to a few of our artisans coming to the 7th Annual Crafty Mart Holiday Show on Saturday and Sunday, November 28th-29th. This is just one in a series of Vendor Spotlights where we let those who will be sharing their wares shine a light on what it is they do. The following profile is Jason and Brit from pratherteam and their response to a mini-questionnaire.
1). What's your name and what is it that you make?
We are Jason & Brit Prather and we reside in rural Ohio. pratherteam formed quickly after we married. We focus on custom retail design & home goods. Currently when we vend at markets and festivals, we sell pocket notebooks, paintings, small furniture, lamps & a game called 14 nails.
2). How did you acquire the unique skill set to do what it is you do?
With an innate desire to develop our environments, we have formed a unique ingenuity allowing us to make the best of any resource available. Our pasts are both filled with interesting travel & living experiences where we have met a lot of mentors & teachers. Brit has interned in Arizona & North Carolina, while Jason has gained experience and knowledge through work in Tulsa, Ann Arbor & Medina. We have both worked with different materials & mediums but both have found ourselves captivated by making items from wood.
3). What is your best seller?
14 nails is a game which has several variations predating modern times. Our version is made with repurposed wood & cut masonry nails purchased from the oldest nail manufacturer in the US. It comes with a small instructional & is branded with a logo Jason designed for the game. This is our best seller.
4). How long have you been vending? Have you done a Crafty Mart show before?
Brit has been vending since 2014 with her previous business, ivy axe. Since re-forming & re-branding into pratherteam we have attended several events throughout the summer. This is Crafty Mart #3 !
