We're excited to bring you another in a series of profiles to introduce you to a few of our artisans coming to the 7th Annual Crafty Mart Holiday Show on Saturday and Sunday, November 28th-29th. This is just one in a series of Vendor Spotlights where we let those who will be sharing their wares shine a light on what it is they do. The following profile is Akron Coffee Roasters and their response to a mini-questionnaire.
1). What's your name and what is it that you make?
We are Akron Coffee Roasters and we are a small-batch specialty coffee roaster located in downtown Akron, Ohio. We roast specialty grade, single-origin coffees sourced directly from individual farms and mills from around the world. We roast twice per week to keep it fresh and carefully roast the beans to highlight each of their unique flavor profiles.
2). How did you acquire the unique skill set to do what it is you do?
We did our time in some fantastic coffee cities along the West Coast. Upon returning to Akron, we found a lack of comparable quality coffee and so began home roasting for our personal consumption. We got started using a machine that was similar to a convection oven and after a few equipment upgrades, hundreds of hours of roasting, and a lot of coffee drinking, we think we have something good enough to share.
3). What is your best seller?
Our coffees rotate seasonally throughout the year based on global harvest schedules so there is always something new and exciting. The African coffees are typically very popular since they are so unique and complex.
4). How long have you been vending? Have you done a Crafty Mart show before?
We have been in business for just one year. Our first Crafty Mart was the Mom & Pop Shop earlier this year and we are happy to be participating in the 7th Annual Holiday Show.
5). Coffee or tea?
Coffee that has notes of tea, like our wet-processed Ethiopia Kochowa.
Thanks guys for answering our questions. Thanks for coming to the 7th Annual Crafty Mart Holiday Show too. We'll see everyone on Sat. & Sun. Nov. 28th-29th at Musica, Akron Art Museum, and Summit Artspace. You'll be able to find Akron Coffee Roasters at Summit Artspace.
