We're excited to bring you another in a series to introduce you to our vendors at the 7th Annual Crafty Mart Holiday Show on Saturday and Sunday, November 28th-29th. This is just one in a series of Vendor Spotlights where we let those who will be sharing their wares shine a light on what it is they do. The following profile is from Michael Considine from NORKA Beverage and his response to a mini-questionnaire.
1). What's your name and what is it that you make?
We are Akron’s very own NORKA Food & Beverage LLC. We specialize in producing NORKA Sparkling Beverages that include Root Beer, Orange, Ginger Ale, and our signature Cherry-Strawberry craft sodas.
2). How did you acquire the unique skill set to do what it is you do?
Our brand NORKA (Akron spelled backwards) dates back to 1924 here in Akron, Ohio when Jacob Paquin founded the company during Prohibition. NORKA’s hand-crafted soft drinks were a hometown favorite with Akronites until 1962 when production ceased. 53 years later we’ve revived this iconic brand and relaunched the original great tasting NORKA flavors.
3). What is your best seller?
Our Cherry-Strawberry has been a hit! But Root Beer, Orange & Ginger Ale aren’t far behind. All four flavors are made with 100% natural flavors, pure cane sugar and are both caffeine and gluten free.
4). How long have you been vending? Have you done a Crafty Mart show before?
We returned to Akron shelves in February 2015 at West Point Market & Acme Fresh Markets. One of our very first events was the Crafty Mart Mom & Pop Shoppe this past April. We loved it and are excited to return!
5). Coffee or tea?
Timana Coffee by Akron Coffee Roasters (Honey butter, stone fruits, & milk chocolate). Incredible!
Thanks for answering our questions Michael! I'd like to invite everyone to come to the 7th Annual Crafty Mart Holiday Show. We'll see you on Sat. & Sun. Nov. 28th-29th at Musica, Akron Art Museum, and Summit Artspace. Everyone will be able to purchase NORKA beverages during the Holiday Show in the 3rd floor café at Summit Artspace. And, you can always find NORKA at the iQcafé at the Akron Art Museum and at Urban Eats restaurant next to Musica as well.
