Get to know the Crafty Mart Team: Board Vice-Chair Roza Maille
Hello everybody! My name is Roza Maille and I am proud to say that I have been a Crafty Mart supporter and supported by Crafty Mart since the very beginning. Recently, Brit asked me to be on the board and head up the vendor committee, so how could I say no? My job on the board is to make sure the vendors are getting what they need and to hear their opinions.
My jewelry line, Rusty Chain Jewelry, has been a part of my life since 2008 and pretty much right after that, Crafty Mart was thrusted into existence by Juniper Sage and J Hudson. Juniper had seen my work at Cleveland indie craft show and when she told me she was starting something similar here in Akron. I was preeeetttty excited. Crafty Mart attendance and sales kept getting better as the years go on, which is obviously thanks all the wonderful people who volunteered their time for the “common crafty good” of Akron. So I am proud to join the team!
It’s rather exciting to work with such creative people. Creativity and community is also a part of my day job as the Inside|Out Project Coordinator at the Akron Art Museum. Bringing great works of art to outdoor spaces is as much fun as it sounds. In addition, I work for a community gallery called the BOX Gallery on the third floor of SummitArtspace, which is run by Artists of Rubber City
That’s enough about work...I do like having fun too. Not that Crafty Mart isn’t fun! I live with my husband and two cats in Highland Square. We love to travel so we take as many road trips as possible (sans cats). We went to Maine for the first time in August. I also love Dance Dance Party Party which I frequent with my fellow Crafty Mart colleagues, Juniper Sage and Joanna Wilson.
I am so happy to help with the success of Crafty Mart in the year to come. It’s an event I always look forward to and I know many other people do too!
